Wine tasting themed Bairrada
April 19 and April 26 in Cascais
On Saturday April 26 I give a wine tasting workshop about the Bairrada wine region. A wine region famous for its sparkling wines, made like champagne, yet very Portuguese. In the workshop we will dive into the history and specifics of the region, the style of winemaking and the different terroirs. The tasting includes 7 wines, with 2 sparkling, whites and reds and is accompanied with bites. The wine tastings takes place on Saturday afternoon at 16:00 in Cascais center.
The Biarrada wine region
Bairrada is famous for its sparkling wines and elegant and structured reds, made from the Baga grape variety. It has a great influence from the Atlantic Ocean and a relatively cool and humid climate, which favours grapes grown with high acidity and low alcoholic content. Perfect for production of sparkling wines and elegant, structured reds.
Bairrada is not that well known outside of Portugal. Wine enthusiasts may know about the reds from the Baga grape variety, but outside of Portugal these wines are hard to get. The Espumantes are internationally even more unknown, while the overall quality is on a level that leaves many Cavas and Proseccos far behind.
Curious to explore this interesting wine region? Join me in the wine tasting workshop on either Saturday April 19 or Saturday April 26. Both dates are the same workshop.
Unfortunately April 19 is no longer available.
